Nothing goes down better on a cold winter day than a good bowl of chili, and Texas has some of the best chili cooks anywhere. In fact, chili has been declared to be the “Official State Dish” by the Texas Legislature. If you are hankering to sample some of this mouth-watering comfort food or if you are a chili chef aiming to show off your chili-cooking skills, don’t miss the Humane Society of Williamson County’s third annual Chili Cook-Off Fundraiser on Saturday, February 11, 2012.
The event will benefit the Humane Society of Williamson County’s mission of finding forever homes for deserving pets. Along with the chili competition, the HSWC is hosting their “Adopt the Love of Your Life” adoption promotion with reduced adoption fees. Lots of deserving pets will be on hand to greet you and you might even find your new best furry friend.
Attendees can vote for their favorite chili, and the three top chefs will win great prizes. There will also be plenty of fun activities for the whole family. Contestants in the cook-off can register in advance on the HSWC website. The cook-off entry fee is $35 and cooks should bring their own ingredients; tables, chairs, bowls and spoons will be provided by HSWC. For more information on entering the contest, visit www.hswc.net/chilicookoff.
