Animal lovers have a song in their hearts thanks to multi-Grammy Award winner Rob Thomas and his wife Marisol, who have been instrumental in turning Pets Alive’s dream of officially launching Pets Alive Puerto Rico from reverie to reality.
Thanks to the animal-loving luminaries, who offered a personal gift of $125,000 as well as $225,000 through their Sidewalk Angels Foundation, Pets Alive Puerto Rico is now working with residents to move the local culture towards progressive and lasting change in the humane treatment of animals.
“As board members of Pets Alive, we are sure that Pets Alive Puerto Rico (PAPR) will be an extension of the same sensibilities that Pets Alive Middletown and Pets Alive Westchester (PAWS) have shown since the very beginning. Focusing on care, rehabilitation, education and, above all, the commitment to the “no kill” agenda. It’s an organization that we are proud to be a part of and to support,” Marisol and Rob Thomas stated.
Situated on six verdant acres in Utado, the Pets Alive Puerto Rico Animal Sanctuary and Bed and Breakfast is the third rescue location for the internationally recognized New York-based no-kill organization.

Now the abandoned and abused animals on Puerto Rico’s streets have a bright future ahead of them thanks to affordable spay and neuter , a workable island-wide TNR (trap, neuter, release) program, humane education and the promotion of local adoptions through community outreach.
Pets Alive has already saved more than 100 animals at the Puerto Rico sanctuary. To keep this project running strong, Pets Alive needs additional funding and support from animal lovers across the United
