One of the silver screen’s first action heroines recently took action to help dogs in need by stepping into her real life role as a volunteer with Pilots N Paws for the organization’s sixth annual Big Flyaway– one of the largest single-day air and land animal rescue missions in the Southeast.
Actress Pam Grier was among the many people with a passion for compassion who gathered at Greenville Downtown Airport on September 27th to care for hundreds of canines– many who had been facing their fate in South Carolina kill shelters– as they waited to board aircrafts for flights to a brighter future with rescue organizations and forever families in Florida, New Jersey and Virginia.
According to news station FOX Carolina 21, the star of such cult hits as Coffy, Foxy Brown and Jackie Brown helped to drive pilots to and from their hotel, assembled pet carriers and play with and walked dogs before they embarked on their journey.
Also helping to create a new reality for the Rovers during the multi-rescue organization event was former reality TV personality Prince Lorenzo Borghese. The star of The Bachelor season nine/president of Royal Treatment pet products is also the co-founder of Animal Aid USA, and on September 25th he got behind the wheel for the drive from New Jersey to South Carolina as part of Animal Aid USA’s largest rescue caravan to date, and along the way helped to gather signatures to shine a spotlight on the need to stop the use of gas chambers as a method of euthanization.
