May 10: The Week Ahead

Share with fellow dog lovers!

I hope everyone’s had a very happy Mother’s Day! We had a busy day catching up with a stack of freelance work and work on our Day Trips from Austin book revision. The clock is ticking down to our book deadline so we have some busy weeks ahead.

I’ve been meaning the past few days to share some photos from our recent beach trip with Irie and Tiki! We had a great time with sunny skies (and no rain…which hasn’t been the case since we got home. We’re under a tornado watch right now.)

Irie and Tiki knew where they were right away; this is their fifth trip to Mustang Island on the Texas coast. There are two ways to reach the island: by highway via Corpus Christi or on the free ferry. It’s a short ferry ride so we always opt for that method. Irie and Tiki have become old pros at it and just sit in the car and watch for gulls during the four- or five-minute ride.

We stayed at A Laughing Horse Lodge, a very dog-friendly place just a couple of blocks from the beach. (You’ll find more about the hotel in our previous review.) Tiki made herself right at home throughout the cottage, from the master bedroom…

Irie loves the cottages there but her very favorite part of the beach is, well, the beach! She likes nothing better than to roll in the sand:

We spent a lot of time walking the beach…

…and going to dog-friendly patio restaurants. Such a great time!

This coming week, we’ve got a lot of work planned on our PawZaar store including some new products! Watch for a radio interview with me on Tracie Hotchner‘s DOG TALK show; I’ll give you the details on that show when it airs, too.

I’m also hard at work on a workshop I’ll be presenting at the upcoming BlogPaws conference in Nashville with Joanne McGonagle of The Tiniest Tiger and Triple-T Studios. Originally John and I had hoped to drive to the conference with Irie and Tiki but, with a looming book deadline (not to mention the worries of a 15-year-old auto), I’ll just be flying up for a few days while the girls spend a little quality time here with John. Stay tuned for photos (and some great prizes!) from the conference, too. If you’ll be at BlogPaws, be sure to let me know in the comments so I can make sure we get to meet up!
