Fall Walks with PooVault

Share with fellow dog lovers!

After our long (long!) summers, we like nothing better than the crisp days that autumn brings Texas. We’re just now seeing cool mornings, hours that are clear and crisp–and perfect for grabbing the dogs and heading off on hiking trails.

We have a long list of fall getaways we’re hoping to experience before fall turns to winter–the changing leaves of Lost Maples State Park, the Halloween fun of the Elgin Christmas Tree Farm, the back trails of Enchanted Rock State Park, and the harvest decorations of Fredericksburg.

Each of these dog-friendly destinations sees larger than usual crowds during the autumn months–which makes it vitally important to scoop that poop each and EVERY time nature calls. If dog lovers become negligent about picking up after their dogs, we’ll soon see locations prohibiting dogs. Pick up the poop!

Recently we started using PooVault–and it’s one accessory that is a must on our doggie day trip packing list now.

As they say, the PooVault is designed to make every walk more happy and less crappy–and we couldn’t put it better ourselves. The PooVault eliminates poop smells, stores dirty and squishy bags, and changes the awkward extended poop bag arm (you know what I’m talking about…) to a relaxed arm at your side. With the PooVault, we can enjoy a trip to take in the fall leaves…

…and then pick up that poop and continue our walk, smelling nothing other than the dampness of fallen leaves or the glorious smell of sunshine on a crisp fall day. That dog poop? It’s tucked away in the PooVault, along with its accompanying odors, until we reach a trash can.

The PooVault is super easy to wear, whether your fall outfit means a flannel shirt or a light jacket. Clip PooVault to your belt or pocket with a built-in belt clip or you can attach it to your leash, walking bag, or belt with a carabiner clip.

When it’s time to pick up your dog’s poop, twist the bag (don’t knot it which traps air in the bag) then drop it into the vault, snap it shut, and continue on your way. The lid closes in the poop and its built-in O-ring holds in the accompanying odors. You won’t have to see or smell that bag or its stinky contents.

Take your time walking to the trash can or carrying the bag back home. This is one aspect of the PooVault that I just LOVE because it is becoming more and more difficult to find a trash can in many state parks–which means carrying the poo bag for sometimes miles.

PooVault is made in the USA from recyclable #2 HDPE–so you can feel extra good about scooping that poop!
