New York Pet Fashion Show to Help Dogs in Need

Global Couture for Animal Rescue is the thread which will run through the 14th annual New York Pet Fashion Show as stylish Spots ‘put on the dog’ for a runway event that seamlessly weaves canine couture with compassion.

Emceed by celebrity pet expert Harrison Forbes, on February 9th fans of both fashion and Fidos will flock to the famous Hotel Pennsylvania to applaud trend-setting tail-waggers as they model designs which will display the beauty of the world’s diversity, ranging from kilt-clad canines and hounds in lederhosen to traditional attire from Thailand, Russia, India, Egypt, China, Brazil, the Dominican Republic, Mexico and America.

Happy to step into a supporting role, an array of animal-loving luminaries will escort the clothing-conscious canines on the catwalk, including:

  • Rachel Grant (the Bond Girl Peaceful Fountains of Desire from the 2002 007 flick Die Another Day)
  • Naomie Olindo (from the Bravo series Southern Charm)
  • Katie Cleary (model/actress/ founder of the non-profit animal welfare organization Peace 4 Animals)
  • Beth Shak-Leventhal (professional poker player)
  • Ashley Bellman (QVC spokesperson)
  • Nicole Patrick (actress)
  • Loren Morrissey (Hamptons Pet magazine travel editor)

The swank soiree will also recognize those who know that trends may come and go, but empathy for paws causes never goes out of style. Receiving 2017 NY Pet Fashion Show Gold Paw Awards will be:

  • Beth Shak-Leventhal, who will be honored with the Humanitarian Award.
  • Mark Winik, the author of “The Dog Healers,” who will receive the Literary Book Award.
  • Dr. Natalie Marks, who will be lauded with the Vet of the Year Award.
  • Steve Dale, who will pick up the Journalist Award.
  • Silvie Bordeaux, a hero for blind dogs, will be celebrated with at the Pet Hero Award.
  • Elias Friedman, who will receive the Pet Storyteller of the Year Award.

Filmed for TV, the elegant evening will also include a red carpet entrance, Best in Show Costume Contest, and a special appearance by the “Best of Broadway,” featuring Hamilton, CATS, Phantom of the Opera, The Lion King, Wicked, Kinky Boots, Chicago, Aladdin, and more.

A portion of the proceeds from the largest pet fashion and animal rescue event in the United States will benefit the Mayor’s Alliance for NYC’s Animals, a non-profit charity which works with more than 150 rescue groups and animal shelters to save homeless animals in New York City.

Tickets: $50 in advance/$60 at the door
