Fans of country music, canines and cats are singing the praises of Emmylou Harris! The entertainment icon, who will be honored with the Recording Academy’s Lifetime Achievement Award at the 60th annual Grammy Awards, has been helping for year to give animals in need a new lease on life as the founder of Bonaparte’s Retreat Dog Rescue. Now the singer has stepped in front of the camera with two of her four-legged friends in order to shine a spotlight on the option of pet adoption in a PSA for an organization that is instrumental in setting the stage for a better tomorrow for companion animals.

The music icon recently posed with her pups Miss Joy and Ernie for Best Friends Animal Society‘s “I Saved My Best Friend” campaign. “Adopting a shelter dog may be one of the best things you can do for yourself in this crazy, confusing world. They are truly the gift that keeps on giving, and how sweet to know you have saved a life,” the singer stated.

A celebrity supporter of Best Friends for many years, for helping those who have no voice the crooner received an award from Best Friends Animal Society back in 2014. Paying tribute to the tunesmith, Marc Peralta– the executive director for Best Friends Animal Society Los Angeles –said when presenting the accolade to the entertainer:

Emmylou Harris is a longtime friend to animals in need, exemplifying the Best Friends spirit that every pet deserves a second chance. Emmylou has given many dogs and cats that second chance at a great new life and is a powerful ally in the fight to Save them All.

The country crooner is just the latest in a long line of animal-loving luminaries who have raised awareness of Best Friends Animal Society’s mission to Save Them All by taking part in the animal welfare organization’s “I Saved My Best Friend” campaign. Among the high-profile pals to those with paws who have shown their support through their participation are Academy Award winner Christopher Walken, movie star Amanda Seyfried, seven-time Emmy Award winner Allison Janney, Shameless star Emmy Rossum, Better Call Saul‘s Bob Odenkirk, Dancing with The Stars judge Carrie Ann Inaba, race car driver Josef Newgarden and Nils Lofgren of Bruce Springsteen’s E Street Band.

Since its start in 1984, Best friends Animal Society has played a vital role in reducing the number of animals who lose their lives in US shelters from 17 million each year to approximately 1.5 million. As more than 4,100 companion animals still face their fate each day in the US shelter system, Best Friends works in collaboration with shelters, rescue groups, and the public, striving toward the day when needless euthanasia ends and we Save Them All.
