He may be known for providing the backbeat for the multi-platinum-selling band Poison, but when he’s not on stage Rikki Rockett drums up attention for paws causes. A long-time animal advocate, the rock star will make an encore appearance at Austin’s fourth annual Puppy Mill Awareness Day Texas– part of a movement which is celebrating its 10th year of dogged devotion in 2013.
Along with Last Chance for Animals founder Chris DeRose, Karma the Flying Pit Bull, Deputy Randy Farmer, entertainer Russell Mayes and KXAN meteorologist Jim Spencer, Rikki Rockett will help to shine a spotlight on the plight of puppy mill dogs during a day which also celebrates the bond between pet parents and their four-pawed pals.
The Fido-friendly event will include:
Agility and training demonstrations
A parade of puppy mill survivors
Adorable adoptables from more than 40 area rescues and shelters
Vendors featuring pet-related products and services
Food and drink carts
