CharlotteRossFebruary 22nd may mark the end of the sixth annual National Justice for Animals Week, but as those with a passion for compassion know, the struggle to stop the abuse of our furry, finned and feathered friends is an ongoing process– one which has been championed since 1979 by The Animal Legal Defense Fund.

Actress Charlotte Ross, who safeguarded the innocent as Detective Connie McDowell on the police drama NYPD Blue, recently stepped into her real life role as an animal advocate for a National Justice for Animals Week PSA to shine a spotlight on the need to protect animal victims of crime.

The Animal Legal Defense Fund’s 2014 National Justice for Animals Week page offers inspiration with a list of America’s Top 10 Animal Defenders (which includes HLN host Jane Velez-Mitchell); ways to help animals in need from your home computer; the chance to take action by downloading the ALDF Crime Tips app, and much more.
