Happy New Year! To celebrate the new year, we’re starting a whole new feature here on DogTipper: the 365 Photo Project! You might be familiar with the 365 series that runs on some mom blogs featuring a new photo every day. We’re taking that concept one step further, and we’ll be adding a photo tip or challenge every day, all with the aim of helping you enjoy taking photos of your dog.
It doesn’t matter what kind of equipment you use, whether a cell phone camera, a point-and-shoot or a DSLR. All the tips and challenges will be accessible to everyone, regardless of equipment. If you miss a day or two, don’t worry…just hop in and fetch some fun anywhere along the series.
There’s only one goal in this series: to encourage you to get out and have fun with your dog and your camera!
We’ll be running some special contests along the way after we get things going (and don’t forget our #SuperDogPics Twitter party later this month will be featuring dog photo tips from a dog photo pro, the publisher of Life+Dogs, Brett Chisholm.)

Today’s Tip
Don’t worry about breaking the rules. In this morning’s photo above, a quick shot taken on the first dog walk of 2012, Tiki stood between the sun and the camera. The general rule of thumb is to put the sun at your back. The result, though, is a fun photo that seems appropriate to the dawn of a new year.
So for today, don’t worry about the rules. Just get out and take a photo of your dog on this first day of 2012!
