4*365: Fill the Frame

Share with fellow dog lovers!

It was a bright (but cold!) morning when I took these photos today right before we headed off on our morning walk. I took these shots in our front yard right by our gate and I think they’re a good example of today’s really easy photo tip!

Today’s Tip: Fill the Frame. Get close to your dog and fill the frame as much as possible with your dog. Don’t worry if a little gets lost in the photo (you’ll see the top of Irie’s head and her nose aren’t in the photo above.) I didn’t use a telephoto lens to take this…I just stepped really close to Irie to shoot the photo. Be sure to focus on your dog’s eyes, and you’ll have a beautiful photo!

The difference it makes in filling the frame versus NOT filling the frame is amazing. Here’s a quick snapshot I took just a minute later than the photo above:

There’s a huge difference in the photos, isn’t there? It’s just a matter of stepping closer, getting down on your dog’s level, and filling the frame with the subject of your photo: your dog!!

If you try out today’s tip, please leave us a comment and, even better, attach your photo below! (Just click the “+” sign in the comments to attach your photo!)
