The silver anniversary celebration of The Genesis Awards was a golden opportunity for The Humane Society of the United States to honor the world of entertainment’s efforts to shine a spotlight on issues of animal welfare.

The Hyatt Regency Century Plaza in Los Angeles welcomed a gathering of glitterati on March 19, 2011, including Betty White and her Hot in Cleveland co-stars Wendie Malick, Jane Leeves and Valerie Bertinelli, Kristin Davis (who was presented with The Wyler Award for her work with orphaned African elephants), Chuck‘s Yvonne Strahovski, multi-platinum selling songbird Leona Lewis, Glee cast member Charlotte Ross, Bones star Emily Deschanel, Michael Vartan from the TNT series HawthoRNe, and Animal Planet celebrities Victoria Stilwell from It’s Me or the Dog and Pit Boss Shorty Rossi with his canine companion, Hercules.

The stars aligned on the red carpet before the main event, which featured a number of Fido-related honors including an Outstanding Dramatic Series award presented to True Blood for the show’s depiction of the horrors of dogfighting in the episode Hitting the Ground; KTLA News at 10 in Los Angeles for the news features Puppy Mills Exclusive Investigation and Dogfighting Investigation; and to the Animal Planet series Last Chance Highway for the episode The Great Escape.

As cameras captured the A-list line up of animal lovers as they arrived for the event, The Humane Society of the United Stated Tweeted pix so the public could join in the excitement:
