Caribbean Canine Cooler Recipe

Ahh…the 100+ degree temperatures here this week have us longing for a tropical breeze and a cool dessert. We haven’t had any luck with that tropical breeze but I figured it was easy enough to whip up a Caribbean treat for the dogs (plus I wasn’t about to turn on that oven!!)
This treat is quick and easy to prepare.

Ingredients
24 ounces plain yogurt
1 cup shredded, unsweetened coconut flakes
1 tablespoon molasses
1 large mango, peeled
2 bananas, peeled
You can always substitute some other fruits (just NEVER grapes or raisins!) and you can leave out the unsweetened coconut flakes if you don’t have any on hand. This recipe is a great use for bananas that are getting a little mushy…the dogs won’t mind!
Just toss all of your ingredients in the blender and blend them for a minute or so.

The mixture is pretty heavy, almost like a cake mix. I poured the mixture into some extra ice trays put you can freeze it in anything you have on hand…plastic tubs work great, too. Pop it all in your freeze and wait a few hours then you’re done!
A cube or two of this island dessert makes a nice, cool treat for your dog (or for you!)
