Surfers Hall of Fame Star Taylor Knox Promotes Pet Adoption

Share with fellow dog lovers!

Knox

He’s known for hanging ten, but today Surfers Hall of Fame member Taylor Knox enjoys hanging out with his totally tubular tail-wagging chum. Stoked to help turn the tide for homeless dogs and cats, the sports star has teamed up with Petco for the paws cause.

Stepping in front of the camera with his barking buddy, Penelope– a former shelter dog who was welcomed into the Knox family’s heart and home in 2012– the retired surfing icon (who acted as a judge at the 2014 Unleashed by Petco Surf Dog Competition) filmed a video for Petco’s Think Adoption First celebrity video series, which is making a big splash with potential pet parents by spreading the word about the 6 – 8 million companion animals in shelters across America who are waiting for someone to love.

By partnering with thousands of animal welfare groups and through in-store adoption events, Petco and the Petco Foundation help more than 400,000 dogs and cats each year find forever homes as part of the Think Adoption First initiative.

Although they may have gained fame for their skills in different sports, Taylor Knox, San Diego Padres’ starting pitcher Tyson Ross, professional skateboarder and rally cross driver Buck Lasek and roller derby athlete Bonnie Thunders are on the same team when it comes to showing support for animals in need. In the days ahead DogTipper will showcase all of the Think Adoption First PSA filmed by each sports star and their rescued Rover.
