Las Vegas Raiders defensive end Maxx Crosby is tackling tough topics with the launch of a foundation that will aim to level the playing field for both kids and canines in need.
In mid-November 2023 the two-time Pro Bowl champ announced that he and his wife Rachel have established The Maxx Crosby Foundation, a nonprofit organization which will focus on youth health and fitness, providing help for teens suffering from substance abuse, and animal rescue and abuse prevention, among other issues that are close to Crosby’s heart.
“My family and I have been blessed with the opportunity and a platform to give back to the communities and causes that are dear to our hearts,” Maxx Crosby said. “It is my hope that the Maxx Crosby Foundation will make a significant impact and will provide direct help to those in need.”
The nucleus of the foundation’s work will take place in Southern Nevada, Eastern Michigan and North Texas.
Devoted to dogs, the NFL player with the tough guy persona on the playing field has a soft spot for Pit Bulls. The sports star stated in a 2020 USA Today interview that Pit Bulls “…are misrepresented and I take it personally because I got three of them. I just want to show people they’re actually great dogs.”
Crosby rescued his first Pittie right out of school, and today is a proud pet parent to barking buddies Brooklyn, Durk, and Leo.
Since stepping into the spotlight as a sports figure he has donned game day footwear emblazoned with a portrait of a Pit Bull to raise funds for the Stand Up for Pits Foundation during the NFL’s annual #mycleatsmycause fundraising campaign, and teamed up with the real estate company Homie to raise funds and awareness for the Pit Bull rescue Pits for Pets.
The sports star has even expressed his desire to eventually open a Pit Bull rescue.
