Happy Father’s Day!

Like many people, I think I got my love of animals from my parents. Growing up, we always had pets, ranging from hamsters to ducks to dogs (including my childhood dog Peanut, above, the subject of my first big magazine sale to Reader’s Digest magazine). Today Mom and Dad are the proud parents of a one-time stray dog named Sam and are loved by their “grand-furkids” Tiki and Irie, who shower them with kisses whenever they see them.
Along with my parents’ kindness and desire to help homeless pets, I also hope I’ve gotten some of my Dad’s natural affinity with animals, who all seem to instantly trust and connect with him!
