Well, I know the “Dog Days of Summer” are technically the later, hotter days of the season but, since it’s pushing 100 degrees here most days, I’m going to declare Dogs Days of Summer in full swing.
And what’s the best way to stay cool during this time? Our Tiki has the answer: lie across the air-conditioner vents.
Our house is older and was retrofitted with air-conditioning so the vents are in the floor instead of in the walls like in many homes. The result are air vents that get in the way of the vacuum cleaner…but couldn’t be better positioned in the eyes of the dogs.
Tiki lies on top of the vent (or sometimes, like the photo below, she props her head on the leg of the woodstove) and enjoys the breeze as her fur (and sometimes her ears) catch the cool air. Sort of a home version of a dog hanging his head out the car window (but far safer…)
