My Office Redo

Share with fellow dog lovers!

Hooray! After a couple of weeks of working on my office, it is finally done! It was a big job, partly because all our office space is upstairs so hauling out old books and papers involved many (many) trips up and down the stairs.

I’ve exchanged a futon for a long work table and cleared out wall space for the banners we had made for our booth at the Texas Pet Expo last month. An old entertainment center became the Pet Product Review Center, with each product waiting for review getting its own bin. And, of course, there’s plenty of room for a jumbo dog bed.

(Inca and Felix say it’s a cat bed…)

My office is L-shaped with sloping walls on two sides and a chase that contains the flue from the woodstove downstairs…

…and three doors…

…so redesigning it would have been a challenge even for Home & Garden TV. (What am I saying…they would have run screaming from the room.)

But I’m very happy with our DIY redo. Along with room for the new table and the storage for review products, I now have room to display a lot of my Caribbean memorabilia like my birthday quilt made from some of the t-shirts from a decade and a half of writing about the islands…

My desk and adjoining table are now completely cleared off (except for Linus, my supervisor)…

…and the bookcases behind the desk have been cleared out enough to be able to store together some of the books we’ve written (for those Monday mornings when I need an ego boost).

The door behind my desk heads to the tiny photo studio we redid this spring and beyond that is John’s office, our next redo project. For now, though, Tiki gives her approval to this project. The only problem now? The office is so neat and tidy I don’t want to work in it and mess it up!!
