In Search of Bluebonnets

Over the past couple of weeks, we’ve had some sad, sad days with the loss of our Linus so decided it was time for a day trip! We had no agenda, no assignment that required us to check out certain attractions or shoot particular photos. We just loaded Irie and Tiki in the car and hit the road!

The bluebonnets are in full bloom in central Texas now so we headed Lake Buchanan, the first and largest in the stairstep series of Highland Lakes. On the lake shores, Black Rock Park is extremely dog-friendly; they even have dog-friendly cabins where we’re going to try to camp later this year:

The last time we visited Black Rock Park, the lake was way, way down because of the multi-year drought. Today Lake Buchanan is once again full, and the water is just steps from the cabin and picnic areas. I love it because the lake has a crushed granite bed and clear water so it’s easy to see where you’re stepping!

We had a great time getting away from the computers for a few hours and enjoying the beautiful spring weather!
