In Search of Bluebonnets

irie-bluebonnet-best-WEB

Over the past couple of weeks, we’ve had some sad, sad days with the loss of our Linus so decided it was time for a day trip! We had no agenda, no assignment that required us to check out certain attractions or shoot particular photos. We just loaded Irie and Tiki in the car and hit the road!

The bluebonnets are in full bloom in central Texas now so we headed Lake Buchanan, the first and largest in the stairstep series of Highland Lakes. On the lake shores, Black Rock Park is extremely dog-friendly; they even have dog-friendly cabins where we’re going to try to camp later this year:

The last time we visited Black Rock Park, the lake was way, way down because of the multi-year drought. Today Lake Buchanan is once again full, and the water is just steps from the cabin and picnic areas. I love it because the lake has a crushed granite bed and clear water so it’s easy to see where you’re stepping!

We had a great time getting away from the computers for a few hours and enjoying the beautiful spring weather!

I'm sorry about Linus. Glad you were able to get out and enjoy some beautiful scenery. I know how hard it can be to motivate yourself when you are dealing with deep sadness.

Thank you so much, Jessica. It was good for us to get out of the house--and away from the computers--for a while. Every day gets better but it's sure tough when you keep running into old blog posts and photos. I know those same photos of Linus will be comforting in a few weeks, though, and will bring smiles!

Bluebonnets were some of my mother's favorite flowers... I miss her like you miss your Linus... It helps to get out and keep busy and fill your aching heart with good things like Bluebonnets and good memories of Linus..????

Beautiful pictures! The Bluebonnets are so beautiful. Sound like fun staying in a cabin.

Some of the best adventures are unplanned ones. Those bluebonnets are absolutely gorgeous and I love the shots of Irie & Tiki in them. So glad you found time to unplug and reconnect with the beauty around you!
