DogTipper Review: As our regular readers know, our dogs like to chew. A lot. Irie could happily chew from sunup to sundown.
But we have to be really careful with their chews. Our dogs are no longer given rawhides because of their habit of attempting to swallow half-chewed pieces, creating a choking risk. And they love chewing raw bones but Irie’s incredibly powerful jaws can break them all too easily.
So we were very eager to try Scout & Zoe’s Natural Antler Dog Chews when owner Cindy Dunston Quirk contacted us. Cindy’s dogs–Scout and Zoe–were the inspiration for her business. Her dogs’ allergies caused Cindy to look for allergy-free chews. Along with being allergy-free, elk antlers offer dogs the chance to chew with less risk of splintering and breakage than bones.
The chews have trace amounts of calcium and phosphorus plus they’re a renewable resource, gathered as the elk naturally shed their antlers without any harm to the elk in the process.
We certainly liked the idea of the antler chews…but what would Irie and Tiki think?

She and Irie headed out in the yard for an afternoon on non-stop chewing…

The next morning, we woke up with that antler beneath our bed’s comforter…Irie wasn’t taking a chance on her antler going anywhere!
