159*365: Resetting Factory Defaults

Share with fellow dog lovers!

Yesterday my camera started acting flaky. Photos were too dark; video was too light. I have no idea what went wrong.

So today we reset the camera to factory defaults. Nikon has a menu option in setup to return all the settings to the way they were originally set at the factory. This includes everything from image size to the language in the menus. It also reset all those little settings that, in everyday fiddling with the camera, I had changed along the way.

The reset did the trick; after resetting, I shot this fun photo in the bedroom of Irie and Tiki. Natural lighting combined with incandescent lighting came in on the left side of the photo to create a nice glow.

To reset your camera to its factory default settings, check your camera’s menu. If you don’t see it, search for your camera’s brand name (and model, if you know it) along with “reset factory defaults” for an online tutorial.
