It’s hard to believe but two years ago today we adopted Barli from the Hill Country SPCA in Fredericksburg, Texas!
Barli–then Baby Bear–was five months old and had spent three months at the shelter. The shelter described him as shy but he took to his new sister Tiki immediately; she helped teach him how much fun it is to meet new people.
This past year, much of his meeting of new people has taken place at the nursing home where John’s four relatives reside. Barli has brought so many smiles to our relatives and to his new friends.
This week, he and Tiki attended their first funeral after we lost John’s cousin, a lifelong dog lover who always enjoyed giving treats to the dogs even though his mobility was very restricted.
Even in these stressful times, I’m always amazed how well Barli and Tiki do in new situations…and how much comfort they give everyone around them.
We are so happy you are in our family, Barli! Today we’re celebrating with a long hike and a swim in the creek…then stay tuned tomorrow for a very special birthday giveaway!
