Review: FURminator deShedding Tool

With six pets in our house, we are no strangers to shedding problems. Although we don’t have a particularly cold winter season here, compared to so many locations, our pets grow a winter coat anyway–and blow that coat as the weather warms up. With temperatures reaching 90 degrees here already, the fur is flying. To keep the fur in check, we roll up our sleeves and get grooming. One of the most frequently-used tools in our house is the FURminator® deShedding Tool.

Both Tiki’s long hair and Irie’s short hound hair do great with the deShedding edge removing that loose hair before it finds its way into the house.

Why I Love FURminator deShedding Tool

It’s easy to use.

I’m going to be frank: I am not skilled at dog grooming. Although I handle all our dogs’ grooming (they don’t go to a groomer), my grooming skills are minimal.

FURminator deShedding Tool is no more difficult to use than a brush. I can handle that.

Hair removal makes my dogs feel good.

When the weather starts to heat up, I can see our dogs slow down–especially Tiki. With her heavy coat, she gets weighed down by the shedding hair.

Removing that shed hair doesn’t just help keep our house cleaner, it makes her feel better.

FURminator deShedding Tool reduces shedding about 90 percent.

Removing shed hair reduces our housecleaning chores.

We all know that this time of year can mean fur everywhere. From tumbleweed-like formations of fur rolling across our wood floors to clouds of canine hair that waft through the house (especially near the air conditioner vents), shed hair finds its way everywhere.

Removing the fur in a grooming session is a much easier way to keep that hair out of the house.

The above shot was taken after THREE passes down Tiki’s shoulder. Just imagine the amount of shed fur that we can remove from her entire coat! (After hair removal, we take that dog hair and leave it out in the yard; the local birds love using it in their nests!)

A big paws up for FURminator deShedding Tool for keeping the fur from flying in our home!
